The Concept

TRADING UP, a new unscripted series (and social experiment) from Nameless TV, explores the past, present and future of the American experience… By rooting through your garbage. Starting with one unique “found object” and, through a series of bigger barters and better trades, arriving at an item of greater financial or sentimental value – Each episode of TRADING UP is a window into the heart of America and the soul of its people.

They say that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure – We say that, by digging deeper, you can unearth even more about the story of a place and what its people really value by what they are willing to trade for these re-discovered treasures. Start with a building, then a block, a neighborhood, a city, region and eventually – the story of where we’ve been and where we’re going together snaps into focus. From Nashville to Nantucket to Nome, Alaska – let TRADING UP take you on a journey into Americana that is packed with character, life lessons and plenty of laughs along the way.

The Nameless Story

The Nameless Network was founded in 2015 by three ex-vice employees who we’re tired of seeing cheap uninformative content flooding the internet. They set out to make a difference by shedding light on subjects that matter and began making their own content and building their own audience. Now The Nameless Network is ready to leverage its audience and make the shift to television. Reaching the equivalent of the entire U.S. population every month, Nameless has published over 2,000 original digital videos and build a subscriber base of over 6 million fans. Today the Nameless Network has over 10 billion online video views and counting!

Sweet Axe and Hot Chicken – Nashville, TN

With an eye on claiming a legendary piece of American musical history – TRADING UP dives into Nashville, Tennessee. While we’d love to land one of Johnny Cash’s guitars we’ll settle for a ten-gallon hat and sharing a batch of hot chicken with the Dixie Chicks.

I Was Told There Would Be Bears – Alaska (multiple locations)

With many of its cities, towns and communities separated by glacial mountains, rivers and, sometimes, a stubborn grizzly in the driveway – A vibrant barter culture still lives large on America’s last frontier where resources can be scarce. Jaunting between several locations by riverboat, single engine plane or dogsled Trading Up get more than they bargained for with an adventure (and a trophy) that exceeds expectations of (by comparison) the tropical lower 48. — A perfect cap to a perfect first season.
